LIVIN' ON A PRAYER BY BON JOVI 500 SUBSCRIBERS SPECIAL: Trombone Collaboration Cover Version

For those of you who are subscribed to my YouTube channel SlideShow, you know that I have been uploading videos a lot more consistently lately. When I got home from tour last September, I decided I was really going to go all in on this YouTube channel and work really hard to make it grow. Since then, it has been my goal to upload once a week. Once I started uploading more frequently, the channel really started to take off!

On January 27, 2020 we hit 500 subscribers! This is halfway to our goal for the year of 1,000 subs. I had been wanting to make a video of Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi for a long time, as it is one of everyone's favorite karaoke songs. Playing up the line "Whoa, we're halfway there" seemed perfect for the 500 Subscribers Special video. I didn’t want to just do a video for this song... I wanted to make it a special one. I have been talking to other people for a while now about how I can include the SlideShow audience more, and create more interactions and engagement with the people watching the videos. It seemed natural to make Livin’ on a Prayer the video to do just that by accepting video submissions from our subscribers. This was really fun and I am so happy so many people participated in the video (we had 11 total)! I got to play with some old friends and made some new ones in the process. The SlideShow channel, and music in general, is all about connecting with people, and this project allowed us to do just that.

The video for Livin’ on a Prayer by Bon Jovi is on track to be one of our most successful videos yet. I definitely want to make more collaboration videos like this in the future! I want to thank each and every one of our collaborators for their contribution to the video: Paul Blakely, Kaylie Brooke, Adam Byars, Tao Guthrie, Guillermo Montecelo, Ben Owens, Guillermo Ramirez, Emily Rozanski, Peter Tijerina and Josiah Williams.

I hope you have as much fun watching it as I did making it! And please, if you haven’t yet, subscribe to the channel! https://www.youtube.com/slideshowtrombone

See you soon!

It's Gonna Be Me by 'NSYNC, Trombone Multitrack Cover

The latest video I posted on the SlideShow YouTube channel is, IT'S GONNA BE ME by 'NSYNC. If you don’t know what SlideShow is, it is a YouTube channel that I upload trombone videos to regularly. I collaborate on this channel with my husband, Patrick, and many other trombonists. We tend to collaborate with trombonists and instrumentalists that we work with. There are many videos on the channel that feature musicians from Blast! and The 7th Fleet Band (US Navy Band). You can check out the channel here: https://www.youtube.com/c/slideshowtrombone

I arranged It’s Gonna Be Me by ‘NSYNC for trombone quintet. Each trombone part plays a vocal part sang by a member of ‘NSYNC. Since ‘NSYNC is a five member, male singing group, the parts work out really well for the register of the trombone. Original song writing credits for It's Gonna Be Me go to Andreas Carlsson, Max Martin and Rami Yacoub.

This is the first SlideShow video where I played all of the parts myself and created a multitrack video. I also included the original background music, so you get the familiar, nostalgic sense of the original song. Making this video was very fun, but I also missed my friends! I enjoy working on recording projects with other people.

The reason I decided to make this video is super obvious if you know me. I was a HUGE ‘NSYNC fan growing up. I am not exaggerating. I had posters all over my room, I wore the T-shirts, and i saw them live in concert several times. One might say I was obsessed, haha. I definitely fell victim to the boy band craze the swept through America in the late 1990’s early 2000’s. Although it was super hard to choose, It’s Gonna Be Me is probably one of my favorite ‘NSYNC songs, it’s just so catchy!

Please enjoy my trombone version of It’s Gonna Be Me!
